Check piston rod for surface damage, whether it is bent, and whether it runs smoothly in pilot bushing

If necessary after inspection, dispose of shock absorber

Check rubber mount in body eye
NOTE:
-
The rubber mounts must be seated securely in the body eye and must not be cracked or damaged

If fitted, damaged rubber mounts can cause knocking noises.

Check shock absorber for internal leakage
NOTE:
-
The volume of oil in the shock absorber is determined by means of the projection length (a) of the piston rod.

Push in piston rod as far as it will go. Then hold vertically so that piston rod points down, and measure projection length (a) of piston rod.

Shock absorber (new)
-
If necessary if specified value is exceeded, dispose of shock absorber.
