Voice connection between vehicle and service center, general

Regardless of the type of vehicle-related service initiated (e.g. MB Info call), a voice connection is established to the service center. After feedback by
the service center with a special tone, an SMS is sent to the service center with the appropriate data (e.g. vehicle identification number (VIN) and vehicle
model). Then the customer can speak to a service receptionist over the existing voice connection.

Function sequence for voice connection between vehicle and service center

The voice control system microphone (B25/7) is used for voice commands; it is integrated into the inside rearview mirror (A67). The signals of the voice
control system microphone are relayed via a direct line to the audio equipment. The audio equipment then loops through and forwards them, via a direct
line, to the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit.

The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit then transmits the voice control system microphone signals to the
service center. The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit transmits and receives the mobile phone signals or data
in the following way:

Multifunction antenna (A28/11)

Voice output takes place exclusively via the center dashboard speaker (H4/27). This speaker is controlled by the emergency call system control unit over
discrete lines.
At the same time, the emergency call system control unit in vehicles with code (810) Sound system sends a mute signal via a direct line to the sound
system amplifier control unit (N40/3) to mute all of the speakers connected.

For vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the emergency call system control unit sends a mute signal via a direct line to the "audio equipment" to
mute all of the speakers connected:

Normally, the voice connection is deactivated by the service center or by the customer.

The establishment of a voice connection to the service center is interrupted by the communication module integrated into the emergency call system
control unit after several unsuccessful dialing attempts.
In the event of a malfunction in the multifunction antenna (e.g. defective because of a rollover), the communication module integrated into the
emergency call system control unit automatically sends and receives the mobile phone signals and data via the emergency call system antenna (A2/52).
