Diagnostic CAN

The emergency call system control unit communicates with the supplemental restraint system control unit ("LIFE signal") every t = 500 ms) and the
electronic stability program control unit over the following path:

Chassis CAN (CAN E)

Front SAM control unit

-

Diagnostic CAN

The following components are each tested via a direct line:

-

Emergency call system antenna

-

GPS antenna splitter (with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer)

-

Multifunction antenna

-

Frequency switchover control unit (with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/Canada)

If no fault is present, the two red LEDs integrated into the emergency call system button go out after t = 4 s and thereby signal operational readiness of
the emergency call system.
If a fault is present, the two red LEDs integrated into the emergency call system button are permanently actuated by the emergency call system control
unit via a direct line.
Depending on the fault type, a message is displayed in the instrument cluster and filed in the memory of the emergency call system control unit.
The message is displayed in the instrument cluster by the emergency call system control unit in the following way:

After triggering an automatic emergency call (crash recognition incl. crash level) the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates one of the
two red LEDs integrated into the emergency call system button.

After triggering a manual emergency call using the emergency call system button, the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates one of
the two red LEDs integrated into the emergency call system button.

After triggering breakdown assistance using the breakdown assistance button, the emergency call system control unit intermittently actuates the LED
integrated into the breakdown assistance button directly via a direct line.
