Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid: Description and Operation
Models With Touch Shift
Torque Converter Lockup Clutch PWM Solenoid Valve, Position/Task/Design/Function
Component Illustration
Position
In the shell of the electric valve control unit (Y3/6) and pressed against the shift plate by a spring.
Task
The PWM solenoid valve for the torque converter lockup (Y3/6y6) controls the pressure for the torque converter lockup clutch.
Design
The torque converter lockup PWM solenoid valve (Y3/6y6) is sealed off to the valve body of the shift plate (2a) by an O-ring (34) and a seal (arrow).
The contact springs (32) at the solenoid valve engage in a slot in the conductor tracks (33). The force of the contact springs (32) ensures secure
contacts.
Function
The torque converter lockup PWM solenoid valve converts pulse-wave-modulated current controlled by the ETC control module (N15/3) into the
appropriate hydraulic control pressure (p-S/KUB).
