All Model 163, Up to VIN A357702 Power Steering Leaks
If you encounter instances in Model 163 vehicles mentioned above of power steering leaks from the connection to the power steering cooler, a possible
cause of this leak may be the clamp used to secure the power steering hose to the cooler not providing sufficient clamping force. Please perform the
following:
1.
Turn off engine and remove ignition key.
2.
Open hood.
3.
Loosen existing clamp (1, Figure 1) and open sufficiently to remove from around hose (2, Figure 1). Clamp (1, Figure 1) may be discarded.
4.
Open replacement clamp (3, Figure 1) to fit over hose (2, Figure 1)
5.
Place replacement clamp in proper position around hose (2, Figure 1) and tighten sufficiently to secure hose.
6.
Check power steering fluid level, correct if necessary. Please refer to document AP46.00-P-4611BB
7.
Start vehicle and check for leakage.
8.
Close hood.
