Selection or settings are possible with the control buttons on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit or the multifunction steering wheel
button groups.

Basic navigation function

The card data is preinstalled on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit hard disk. The card data can be updated by the customer or
workshop by installing the data from an update DVD. This process is permissible only when the vehicle is standing still. After inserting the update DVD
into the COMAND operating, display and controller unit, a question automatically appears whether the data is to be installed. After confirmation,
installation is accomplished. If the installation fails (due to dead battery (G1), scratches or fingerprints on DVD, etc.), operation can be continued with
the old data. After installation, the DVD can be removed.

If the navigation base function (Navi) is activated, the default screen appears.
The navigation base function consists of the following subfunctions:
