with CODE (494) USA version
The activated charcoal filter shutoff valve is located above on the left on the activated charcoal canister, in the wheelhouse at the right rear.
The activated charcoal filter shutoff valve is located above on the left on the activated charcoal canister, in the wheelhouse at the right rear.
Task
The activated charcoal filter shutoff valve closes off aeration/venting of the activated charcoal canister.
Design
The activated charcoal canister shutoff valve consists of a solenoid (coil resistance about 15 Ohms) that closes the activated charcoal canister shutoff
valve when current is applied. A mechanical safety valve is also installed.
Function
For ignition ON the activated charcoal filter shutoff valve is actuated at the ground end by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) and opens aeration or
venting of the activated charcoal canister.
During a leak test the activated charcoal filter shutoff valve is no longer actuated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and aeration or venting of the
activated charcoal canister is closed off.
In case of a fault in the shutoff valve (it does not open any more), a mechanical safety valve takes on aeration of the activated charcoal canister (from
approximately -25 mbar).
The voltage supply takes place from "terminal 87 M".
