Rear Seat Entertainment Systems Displays Do Not Power On, No Picture or Completely Inoperative
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicle of the rear seat entertainment system displays not powering on or no picture is visible, this
may be due to a CAN communication error in the DVD player (A4014) which can cause a current draw when the vehicle is at rest. In certain cases, the
rest current may reach a 0.5 Amp or higher which can subsequently discharge the battery. Should you encounter this condition, please inspect the battery
current draw and update the DVD player software to version 30/07 using DAS 08/07 with Patch no. 2007-09-06-0788 per the below procedure.
1.
Check the battery's current draw (must be less than 50 mA). Refer to WIS document AR54.10-P-1030GZ (164) or AR54.10-P-1030RT (251) and
proceed with the DVD player software update.
2.
Connect a battery charger --> turn electrical consumers OFF --> connect DAS.
3.
With DAS, navigate through --> Audio, video, navigation and telematics --> .... --> AVE-H-Rear audio video unit --> Control unit adaptations -->
Control module programming... (you many need to reset the DVD player prior to programming it).
4.
When complete, allow CAN to sleep, restart the system and test for correct operation.
