Fan Clutch: Service and Repair
Fan Clutch Assembly

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

Replacement

1. Remove fan shroud.

2. Fit on counter holder (1) tool No. 120 589 02 01 00, or equivalent.
3. Unbolt large bolt of the viscous fan clutch (3) with fan (2) with hexagon insert (7) 103 589 01 09 00 and torque wrench (8) 001 589 72 21 00, or

equivalents, and remove.

4. Unbolt small fasteners of the viscous fan clutch (3) at fan (2).
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

The cast part number of the fan (2) must be positioned at the front (radiator side).

Tighten the small fan clutch fasteners to 10 Nm and the large fastener to 45 Nm
