Transmission Mount: Service and Repair

Model 140 5 Spd Auto. Trans.

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Support transmission.
2. Slacken cable straps of wiring of kickdown switch and oxygen sensor at engine carrier (13).
3. Remove engine carrier (13).
4. On Models 124 and 129, remove engine mounts (11 or 12). Pay attention to washer (9) or backing plate (10).

NOTE:  The engine mounts differ depending on whether a manual or automatic transmission is fitted.

5. On Model 140, slacken securing bolt (16) of engine mount.

NOTE:  Rear engine mounts in model 140 differ in their load bearing capacitor from the engine mounts of engines 119 and 120 and must not be
interchanged.

6. On all models, reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

On Model 140,

The installation position of the engine mount (12a) is fixed by a slot (arrow) on the mount and a recess (6) on the bracket (12b).

Tighten engine mount bolt (16) to 40 Nm

On Model 129, tighten engine mounts (11 or 12) to 70 Nm.
