COMAND Current Draw
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of battery drain, please check the COMAND units sleep current per the below steps.
COMAND sleep current can be measured at fuse F1f22 (fuse 22 in left front fuse box).
1.
Connect the multimeter in place of fuse using adapter part number W140 589 12 21 00 which is part of Set of Electrical Connections part number
W220 589 00 99 00.
2.
Turn ignition switch to position 1 and make sure COMAND is turned on.
3.
Inspect the COMAND system for a navigation or music CD. Remove any CDs from the system, as this will affect the rest current (for testing
only).
4.
Remove the cellular telephone, if so equipped.
5.
Turn off the ignition and remove the key. Make sure the COMAND is turned off.
6.
Wait approximately 20 minutes after removing the ignition switch and switching off the COMAND.
If the sleep current is approximately 9OOmA and vehicle's VIN falls into the above subject VIN range, please replace the COMAND unit to resolve.
