Rear Fender Corrosion in Wheel Arch Area

Should you receive customer reports regarding the above model vehicles pertaining to corrosion in the rear fender, follow the repair procedures below.

A. Procedure for Corrosion in Area A (Figure 1)

1. Remove corrosion from rear fender at area A (Figure 1).

2. Mask off wheel arch in visible area B (Figure 1) with masking tape.

3. Remove bulkhead from rear fender (1) (Figure 1).

4. Detach trim on entrance longitudinal member.

5. Mask off rear bumper.

6. Apply primer filler. Use approved warranty materials from our paint partners: See document SI98.00-P-0010a.

7. Apply seam sealant (sprayable) or under floor protection (pintable) to wheel arch in area A (Figure 1). See EPC-net for seam sealant (sprayable)
and underfloor protection. There must be no residues of cleaning agent left on the relevant areas otherwise material adhesion cannot be guaranteed.
Observe the manufacturer's specifications regarding setting time and application life of the sealant. Mask off wheel arch in visible area B (Figure 1)
using masking tape with two layers of tape slightly offset approximately 1 to 2 mm from each other for subsequent painting.

8. Paint over wheel arch in area A (Figure 1).

9. Remove first adhesive tape from wheel arch.

10. Carefully remove adhesive tape from visible area B (Figure 1).

11. Apply cavity preservation. For preservation agents see EPC-net.
