Remove/Install Torsion Bar On Front Axle
CAUTION: See notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
DANGER:

Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
-
Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points
specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle.

Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Detach link rod (23) from torsion bar (10)

Check rubber mounts of link rod (23) for damage, replace link rod (23) if necessary.
CAUTION: Installation: Only tighten nut (23b) in the curb condition of the vehicle, turn the steering onto lock if necessary.

Detach torsion bar (10) on the left and right of the retaining bracket (21b) from the front axle carrier and remove torsion bar (10)

Check rubber mounts of torsion bar (10) for damage and wear, replace torsion bar (10) if necessary.
NOTE: The rubber bushings are molded onto the torsion bar (10).

Detach retaining bracket (21b) from torsion bar (10)

If necessary.

Detach link rod (23) from steering knuckle (5)

Check boot of link rod (23) for damage and replace link rod (23)
CAUTION: Installation: When tightening, counterhold the joint of link rod (23) so that the boot is not twisted or damaged.

Install in the reverse order.
