ESP/BAS/ABS "Visit Workshop" Illuminated
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of ESP/BAS/ABS "Visit Workshop" displayed within the instrument cluster's multi-function
display and any of the fault codes listed below perform the following:
^
C1103-L6/4 (right rear speed sensor) open circuit in wiring
^
C1103-L6/4 (right rear speed sensor) loose contact
^
C1103-L6/4 (right rear speed sensor) implausible wheel speed
^
C1112-One or more speed sensors have implausible values
1.
Perform guided tests as outlined within STAR Diagnosis.
2.
Inspect right rear wheel speed sensor connector for evidence of corrosion and/or water (Figure 1 L6/4x1).
3.
If water and/or corrosion exist, replace right rear wheel sensor (refer to WIS document AR42.40-P-0820I) and thoroughly clean corresponding
body harness connector.
4.
If water is found within the wheel speed sensor's protective boot (Figure 1, 2), remove rear seat bottom cushion (refer to WIS document
AR91.12-P-1020MB, AR91.12-P-1020M or AR91.12-P-1020MA) and remove all traces of water. Inspect surrounding wiring harnesses for
evidence of water damage and/or corrosion. Thoroughly clean wire harness connector(s) as necessary.
5.
Apply a small amount of dielectric grease (Wurth(R) brand P/N 0893 5811 or similar) to the wheel speed sensor and body harness connector
pins/terminals (Figure 1, L6/4x1).
