Refrigerant: Service and Repair
Correcting Oil Level In Air Conditioning
Checking Oil Level In Refrigerant Compressor
In the case of repairs to the air conditioner, depending on the extent of damage, the compressor oil fill quantity is to be corrected in accordance with
paras. 1 to 3.
Oil fill quantity
NOTE: Parts which have come into contact with compressor oil for R12 or R134a may only be installed in systems operating with the same refrigerant.
1. In the case of repair or slow refrigerant loss
Replenishing refrigerant:
Up to 400 g (no leaks detectable)
Do not fill with compressor oil.
Fill system completely due to leaks and fill receiver dehydrator
Renew 20 cubic cm of new compressor oil.
Refrigerant compressor and receiver dehydrator
Renew.
Drain oil from removed refrigerant compressor and measure quantity
Also drain oil from new refrigerant compressor. Fill the same quantity as from the removed compressor and an additional 10 cubic cm (for
receiver) in the new refrigerant compressor (oil drain from refrigerant compressor can be used again).
Repair refrigerant compressor (e.g. the front shaft sealed) and receiver dehydrator. To do this, slowly drain refrigerant (suction side)
Pour 20 cubic cm of new oil into the refrigerant compressor.
Checking and correcting the oil fill of the refrigerant compressor

Remove, install. See: Compressor HVAC/Service and Repair
If the refrigerant compressor has been renewed
Allow oil to drain from the refrigerant compressor which has been removed, whilst holding the refrigerant compressor with the pressure and
suction opening downwards and allowing the oil to drain out for approximately 10 minutes through the pressure and suction opening. The oil
drains more quickly if the drive shaft (clutch) is turned several times.
Also allow oil from the new refrigerant compressor to drain
Determine how much compressor oil has drained from the original refrigerant compressor and the pipeline. Pour the same quantity of new
compressor oil into the new refrigerant compressor via the suction opening, and an additional 10 cubic cm for the new receiver. When repairing
the refrigerant compressor (e.g. before the shaft seal) renew receiver, and pour an additional 20 cubic cm of new compressor oil into the
refrigerant compressor.
NOTE: Parts which have come into contact with compressor oil for R12 or R134a may only be installed in systems operating with the same
refrigerant.
2. System suddenly empties (e.g. cracked line or accident)
Renew defective part and receiver dehydrator, as described in paragraphs 1 and 3, including the specified oil quantity
Pour in an additional 40 cubic cm of compressor oil.
NOTE: After evacuating (approximately 30 minutes) the system of the air conditioner, fill with approximately 200 g of R12 or R134a refrigerant
and check for leaks. Then extract refrigerant again (recycling) and re-evacuate (approx. 15 minutes). After this, fill system with the specified
quantity of refrigerant and check the operation of the air conditioner.
NOTE: Parts which have come into contact with compressor oil for R12 or R134a may only be installed in systems operating with the same
refrigerant.
3. Replacing parts
