Component Identification

Location

The roof system drive unit is located below the left headliner on the front roof frame.

Task

The roof system drive unit opens and closes the panoramic sliding roof.

Function

The direction of rotation of the roof system motor is determined by the polarity of the actuating voltage from the overhead control panel control unit
(N70) Starting with the panoramic sliding roof closed, rotation of the roof system motor in one direction opens the panoramic sliding roof. If the roof
system motor continues to turn in the same direction beyond the "Panoramic sliding roof open" position, the panoramic sliding roof is opened beyond the
stationary roof section toward the rear.
The Hall sensors deliver signals to the overhead control panel control unit for position measurement Moreover, a thermal protection switch provides for
overload protection.
