Overview

Removing and Installing, Overview

 Oil Pan

Preceding Work:

Air cleaner removed.  Refer to "Powertrain Management : Fuel Delivery and Air Induction : Air Cleaner Housing"  See: Tune-up and
Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing

Dipstick guide tube removed. See Step 23.  See: Removal and Installation

Vibration damper removed. Refer to: "Engine : Cylinder Block Assembly : Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley"  See: Cylinder Block
Assembly/Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley 

Tensioning device removed. Refer to: "Engine : Drive Belt : Drive Belt Tensioner"  See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive
Belt Tensioner

Hood  .........................................................................................................................................................................................   raise to vertical position.

Ground cable at battery  ....................................................................................................................................................................   disconnect, connect.

Air scoops  ................................................................................................................................................................................................   remove, install.

Viscous fan clutch  ....................................................................................................................................................................................   remove, install.

Bolts(2) of fan carrier belt pulley (4)  ......................................................................................................................................................   slacken, tighten 
Use holder 603 589 00 40 00. See Step 5.  See: Removal and Installation

Poly V-belt and tensioning device  ...........................................................................................................................................................   remove, install.

Fan carrier belt pulley (4)  ........................................................................................................................................................................   unbolt, bolt on.
