Oil Filter Housing: Service and Repair
Preparation

Bottom engine compartment panel removed.
Removal/Installation:

Unplug plug connection (10) at oil pressure sensor (11).

Unbolt oil pressure sensor (11) with seal (12).
Tighten to: 15 Nm.

Disconnect vacuum line.

Unbolt oil lines (7) and (8) of air-to-oil cooler at oil filter (5).
Tighten to: 7 Nm.

Replace seals (9).
-
Unbolt oil filter (5) at crankcase.
Tighten to: 25 Nm.

Remove oil filter (5) downward.
Installation Note: Clean sealing surfaces. Replace gasket (5a).

Install in reverse sequence, observing tightening specifications and the installation note.

Check oil level in engine, adjust to correct level.

Run engine and check for leaks.
NOTE:
-
When changing oil filter, ensure that the upright pipe (8) in the oil filter housing is not inadvertently removed.

Oil filter housings with loose upright pipe must be replaced, otherwise unfiltered engine oil may flow to the bearing points.

The oil filter housing is supplied in the parts sector only as a running-in oil filter which in this case should be replaced with the normal oil filter
element.

As of vehicle ident end no. 129066 1F 005981, oil filter housings, part no. 119 180 07 10, have been installed which are fitted with an upright pipe
that cannot come loose.
