After an emergency call is actuated, an emergency call telegram is automatically generated by the E-CALL control unit (A35/8). It includes the following
information:

^

Vehicle location

^

Type of emergency call actuation: automatic or manual with the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3),

^

Crash parameter from restraint system control unit (N2/7) and tilting cone sensor (B66),

^

Identification number for identifying vehicle,

^

Time of emergency call.

The emergency call telegram is relayed to the E-call center via mobile telephone.

This service has not been available in Japan since 31.12.2003

In the E-CALL control unit (A35/8) up to three generated emergency call telegrams are stored. If already more than three emergency call telegrams are
stored the oldest telegram is written over.

When an emergency call is requested, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) assembles all the data required for an emergency call telegram.
The following data are automatically transmitted in an SMS emergency call telegram:

Subscriber identification module (SIM) data

Phone number

^

Method of triggering (manual or automatic emergency call)

^

Vehicle data (e.g. circuit status)

^

Crash information (severity of accident), only for an automatic emergency call

^

Position data

^

Vehicle direction and speed

Telediagnosis call (roadside assistance call)

When the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6) is pressed, an SMS is automatically sent to the service center. The following data are
