SL 500 HVAC Control Assembly - ON/OFF Button (2004)
Component Identification
Function with automatic air conditioning (AAC)
Pressing the Auto button ( ) of the air distribution switches, (3, 4) enables the automatic mode to be activated for the left and right-hand sides.
Afterwards, by pressing the air distribution switches (3, 4) manual mode can be returned to.
As well as controlling the temperature, the blower output (switch pressed) and the air distribution can all be automatically regulated in automatic mode.
If the blower switch is (5) not pressed then the blower can be manually regulated.
The blower speed is continuously controlled depending on the temperature difference between the specified and actual values. The electronic control of
the system not only uses the interior temperature (in-car temperature sensor), but also the air humidity (AAC multifunction sensor).

- with CODE (581) Automatic air conditioning
Function
When the AC OFF button ( ) on the AAC pushbutton control module (N22) is pressed, the LED comes on, the refrigerant compressor is deactivated (A9)
and thus cooling is switched off . The air is no longer cooled and dried.
All other functions are retained.
The pollutant-controlled recirculated air function is not available in AC OFF mode.
In order to switch off the refrigerant compressor (A9) the AAC pushbutton control module (N22) issues a switch-off request over the CAN data bus and
the specified value = 0 % to the driver side SAM control module (N10/10). At the same time, the refrigerant compressor torque is set to "0" and
transferred to the engine electronics and the electronic transmission control via the EIS control module (N73). The driver side SAM control module
(N10/10) sends the canceled load increase signal to the engine electronics via the EIS control module (N73) and switches the refrigerant compressor
(A9) off after a defined time delay.
