Air Filter Element: Description and Operation

Air Cleaner

PURPOSE

The two air filter elements (one for each cylinder bank) and their housing clean the outside air before it enters the intake system. This is necessary,
because the air mass sensors, cylinder walls and other engine components are sensitive to abrasive dust and dirt particles.

CONSTRUCTION

The air filter is fitted into a drawer like holder. This holder then slides into the intake air housing.
