Coolant Level Sensor: Description and Operation

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

Function Of Coolant Level Indicator

The coolant level indicator monitors the coolant level in the expansion tank or radiator, respectively, when the engine is running.

If the coolant is at the correct level, the contact (arrow) in the coolant level sensor (S41) is open.

When the coolant level drops, the float (51) moves down. When the ring magnet (54) is positioned above the contact (arrow in the coolant level
sensor, the contact closes.

Vehicle ground now exists at the microprocessor and the indicator fight (Ale11) comes on.
