Record the resultant articulation angle 3, e.g. -0.08 degrees on the data sheet.
Display of memory: inclination angle 3
Component Identification
The articulation angles can be calculated using the difference between the respective measured absolute angles.
Front articulation angle (1):
Transmission to front propeller shaft Center articulation angle (2):
Front propeller shaft to rear propeller shaft Rear articulation angle (3):
Rear propeller shaft to rear axle center assembly]
All inclination angles should be as close as possible to the center of the relevant tolerance range.
Correct the rear inclination angle (3)
In the calculation example the front and center articulation angle are within tolerance, the rear articulation angle (3) is outside the tolerance
To correct the rear articulation angle (3), attach a 2 mm thick shim between the rear axle housing and rubber mount, in addition to an existing shim/to
existing shims (arrow). A 1 mm thick shim changes the articulation angle by approx. 0.25 degrees to 0.33 degrees.
Shims are available as replacements parts in thicknesses from 1 mm to 4 mm.
The bolt length does not have to be increased when using shims up to a maximum of 6 mm thickness.
If a shim with a thickness more than 6 mm is required, the front rubber mounts of the rear axle mount should be checked for signs of settling or wear
and should be replaced if necessary.
