prevent immediate shutoff of the safety devices if the load on the front passenger seat is removed for a short period.

Automatic child seat recognition

The functionality of the automatic child seat recognition is only given where a Mercedes-Benz approved and control-unit coded child seat are used. This
child seat must be equipped with 2 transponders, which are located in its base on the left and right. Where a child seat is in its position, the signals from
the transponders located in the child seat, which the electronic analysis system sends via the transmitting antennas, are changed. These signals are picked
up by the respective receiving antennas in the sensor mat and forwarded to the electronic analysis system. The front passenger seat occupied and child
seat recognition sensor (B48) evaluates these signals and notifies the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) about the following statuses:

^

Child seat present/not present

Child seat installed facing/facing away from direction of travel
