Ignition Ballast Resistor: Description and Operation
The ballast resistor, (wire type), maintains a specific resistance between the positive (Batt.) terminal of the ignition coil connector and the wiring harness
connector. It is not in operation during engine cranking enabling the coil to receive a hotter signal for starting. Once the engine is running, the resistor is
used to protect the coil from voltage overload.
