Remove tools, then install rack support bushing into housing and secure with wire clip.

10.

Install pinion valve O-rings.

11.

Secure end of pinion valve in a suitable soft-jawed vise.

12.

Apply clean power steering fluid to tool No. T57L-3517-A1 or equivalent, then position tool over pinion and valve assembly.

Install new Teflon seals as shown in Fig. 4. Note proper positioning of spacers for installation of each seal.

Size Teflon seals using tool No. T87M-3504-G or equivalent. Leave tool in position for one full minute to allow seal to settle fully.

Center steering rack, then install pinion assembly into housing with tool No. T87M-3504-H or equivalent used as a bore protector. Align
reference marks made during disassembly.

16.

Install upper pinion bearing and seal assembly onto pinion input shaft.

17.

Install upper washer, then the retaining circlip and dust cap onto input shaft.

18.

Position new O-ring on yoke, then install yoke, spring and original shims in pinion housing.

19.

Apply suitable sealant to yoke cover plate, then install the plate and tighten to specifications.

20.

Install pinion washer and locknut, then tighten to specifications.

21.

Fill dust cap and locknut area with suitable grease, then install dust cap on pinion housing.

22.

Install tie rod and ball joint assemblies and tighten to specifications, while holding flat of rack to prevent from turning.

23.

Apply clean power steering fluid to rack teeth.

24.

Apply suitable grease to rack bellows, then slide bellows over toe rods and rack housing and secure with retaining clamps.

25.

Install tie rod ends and locknuts, then tighten to specifications.
