Disassembly
1.
Clamp strut spring compressor 086-00029 or equivalent in a vise and adjust tool to Start position following manufacturer's instructions.
2.
Position strut assembly in tool and carefully compress spring.
3.
Hold piston rod with a 6 mm Allen wrench and remove coil spring locknut and retainer, Fig. 8.
4.
Remove top mount, bearing and spring seat, then the spring and spring compressor.
5.
Remove dust boot and stop bumper from piston.
Assembly
1.
Position stop bumper and dust boot over piston.
2.
Ensure both springs are free of dirt and grease, then position compressed spring onto strut lower spring seat.
3.
Install upper spring seat, bearing, top mount and retainer. Ensure bearing is installed with small hole facing up.
4.
Hold piston rod with a 6 mm Allen wrench, then install locknut and torque to 29-38 ft. lbs.
5.
Carefully release strut spring compressor.
6.
Ensure bearing is properly positioned in upper spring seat and spring is properly positioned in both seats, then remove assembly from spring
compressor.
