SEAT HEADREST RAISES WHILE DRIVING
FORD:
2005-2006 Five Hundred, Freestyle
MERCURY:
2005-2006 Montego
ISSUE
Some 2005-2006 Freestyle/Five Hundred/Montego vehicles built through 12/14/2005 may exhibit a condition where the front seat headrests may raise by
themselves while driving. This may be due to a miss-positioned seat cover trim wire, allowing the headrest supports to become preloaded against the trim
wire when inserted fully.
ACTION
Use the following Service Procedure to reposition the trim wire so it properly clears the headrest supports.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Position the front seat backrest cover to gain access to the headrest tubes and wire frame lumbar support by following directions in the Workshop
Manual (WSM), Section 501-10.
NOTE
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REMOVE HOG RINGS, OR COMPLETELY REMOVE THE FRONT SEAT BACKREST COVER TO ACCESS
THE SEAT COVER TRIM WIRE.
