Montego AWD V6-3.0L VIN 1 (2005)
Removal
WARNING: To prevent glass splinters from entering eyes or cutting hands, wear safety glasses and heavy gloves when cutting glass from the
vehicle.
1. Remove the C-pillar trim panel and parcel shelf, and lower the headliner.
2. Disconnect the two rear window defrost electrical connectors.
3. NOTE: Lubricate the existing urethane adhesive with water to aid the special tool while cutting.
Using the special tool, place the flat side of the knife against the rear window glass window. Start cutting the glass at the top, and work toward the
corners.
4. Using the special tool, distance the rear window glass from the body.
5. Using the special tool, cut the remaining urethane adhesive and remove the window glass.
6. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.
Installation
CAUTION: When installing urethane installed glass parts, the vehicle must not be driven until the urethane adhesive has cured. At
temperatures above 21°C (70°F) and relative humidities above 50%, adequate cure time is typically 24 hours. (Refer to Essex drive away chart
for the cure times, as temperatures and humidity will cause cure times to vary.) Inadequate or incorrect curing can adversely affect the bonding
of the rear window glass.
