Fuel Tank Mounting Straps: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING:  DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR
ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE VAPORS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY IGNITE. FAILURE TO
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Drain the fuel tank. 
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the muffler/tailpipe assembly.

4. Remove the centre exhaust heat shield.
5. Remove the stabilizer bar.

6. Support the fuel tank with the powertrain lift.

CAUTION:  When supporting the fuel tank, use a suitable packing material to prevent damage to the underside of the fuel tank.

7. Remove the two fuel tank support strap bolts.

Detach the ground cable.

Remove the fuel tank support strap bolts.
