This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act of Canada.
Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited (Ford) has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1986, 1987, 1988
and 1989 Taurus and Sable cars. Affected cars are those sold or primarily operated in the eastern portions of Canada where extremely large amounts of
road salts are used for road dust and ice control. Our records show you own the 19XX (vehicle) bearing the serial number shown above your name and
address on this letter.
Safety Defect
When operated primarily in areas where large quantities of road salts are used for road dust and ice control, the front brake rotors on your car may
corrode and progressively weaken. Eventually one of the rotors may fracture. If this occurs, the car may "pull" to one side during braking. In addition,
stopping distances may be increased. A collision could result. A fractured rotor typically would produce a loud grinding or rattling noise.
Repairs
At no cost to you, your dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace both front brake rotors on your car.
How Long Will It Take
The time needed to service your car is less than two hours. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your car for one full working
day.
