Keyless Entry Key-Pad: Description and Operation
The keyless entry keypad is located on the driver door and performs the following functions:

unlocks driver door
^
unlocks all doors and liftgate
^
locks all doors and liftgate
^
releases luggage compartment door
^
lights keypad lamp
^
deactivates a triggered perimeter alarm
^
arm/disarm anti-theft system
^
allows one user code to be programmed
^
issues interior lamps on (when unlocking) and oft commands (when locking) to the generic electronic module (GEM)
To lock all doors and liftgate:
^
press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. (It is not necessary to enter the key code first.)
This will turn off courtesy lamps and prearm the anti-theft alarm system.
To unlock the driver door, and disarm the anti-theft alarm control, if equipped:
^
Enter the permanent factory code.
^
Enter the owner's alternate code.
To unlock the passenger door(s) and liftgate:
^
press the 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver door or luggage compartment door.
The remote anti-theft personality module has the ability to recognize one factory keyless entry code and one user-programmed keyless entry code.

The factory code will be programmed at the manufacturing plant and stored in non-volatile memory.
^
The user-programmed keyless entry code will be programmed by the user and will be stored in non-volatile memory.
^
The keyless entry code will be input by the user as a series of five keys input from the keypad.
The keyless entry keypad functions as follows:
Upon reading a valid key, the module will respond in the following manner:
1.
Store the key in memory keycode.
2.
Activate the keypad lamp for five seconds.
3.
Issue an interior lamp on request to the generic electronic module.
Upon reading five sequential keys, the module will check the code against both the factory keyless code and the user programmed keyless code.
If a match exists, between what the user has input at the keypad and the codes stored in memory, the module will respond by activating the driver door
unlock output and disarming the anti-theft system. A key read is considered to be sequential if the valid key is read within five seconds of the last valid
key read. If more than five seconds has gone by, i.e. the keypad lamp has timed out, the user must start over at the beginning of the keypad code
sequence.
