Brake Shoe: Service and Repair
Installation
Drum Brake Hardware
SERVICING ADJUSTER

Separate brake adjuster screw socket from adjusting screw and unscrew adjusting screw from adjusting nut.

Clean and inspect threads of adjuster for nicks, burrs and freedom of movement service or replace as necessary. If brake shoe adjusting screw
socket is frozen, it must be replaced.

Apply a light coat of Premium Long-Life Grease to threaded area of adjusting screw brake shoe adjusting screw.
^
Apply a coat of Premium Long-Life Grease to inside of brake shoe adjusting screw socket.
^
Assemble brake adjuster.
^
Turn brake shoe adjusting pivot nut all the way down on screw and then back off one turn.
