WARNING:
THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER
ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL
LAWS.
The calibrations listed are current revision level calibrations. Past revision level calibrations are also included in this TSB.
ISSUE:
A hard start/long crank time, intermittent harsh 1-2 shift and/or poor engine speed run up at certain start up temperatures may be evident on some
vehicles after an overnight soak. This may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration not turning on certain injectors during crank
mode.
ACTION:
Reprogram the PCM. The new calibration has been revised to reduce the possibility of hard start/long crank times, intermittent harsh 1-2 shift and poor
engine speed run up at certain start up temperatures. Perform normal diagnostics and refer to the following Recalibration Cross Reference Chart for the
correct PCM calibration.
Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of
modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized
Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal. and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
