REMOVAL

1. Raise vehicle on a hoist.

CAUTION:  Do not raise vehicle by tension strut. Damage to strut may result.

2. Remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove bolt retaining rear brake hose bracket to rear shock absorber bracket. Remove shock absorber from rear wheel spindle.

NOTE:  Care should be taken to make sure rear brake hose is not kinked or stretched.

4. If equipped with disc brakes, remove rear disc brake caliper from rear disc brake adapter and hang out of way with a piece of wire.
5. If equipped with disc brakes, remove rear disc brake rotor, wheel hub, rear wheel disc brake shield, rear brake anti-lock sensor.
6. If equipped with drum brakes, remove retaining nuts, brake drum and wheel hub.
7. If equipped with drum brakes, remove four bolts retaining brake backing plate to the rear wheel spindle. Remove brake backing plate from rear

wheel spindle and hang it out of way with a piece of wire.

8. Remove and discard rear suspension arm and bushing-to-rear wheel spindle bolts, washers and nuts.
9. Remove rear suspension tension strut nut washer and discard nut.

10. Remove and discard pinch bolt retaining rear wheel spindle to shock absorber and remove rear wheel spindle from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Loosely assemble new lower suspension arm bolt through rear wheel spindle boss holes.
2. Position rear wheel spindle onto rear suspension tension strut and bushing and then onto shock absorber.
3. Insert a new rear shock absorber-to-rear wheel spindle pinch bolt. Do not tighten at this time.
4. Install rear suspension tie rod bushing, washer and new nut. Do not tighten at this time.
5. Install rear suspension arm and bushing to rear wheel spindle, washers and nuts.
6. Install a jackstand to support suspension at normal position when at curb height before tightening fasteners.
7. Tighten rear suspension arm and bushing-to-rear wheel spindle nut to 68-92 Nm (50-67 ft. lbs.).
8. Tighten rear suspension tension strut and bushing nut to body 47-63 Nm (35-46 ft. lbs.).
9. Tighten rear shock absorber to rear wheel spindle pinch bolt to 68-92 Nm (50-67 ft. lbs.).
