Carburetor icing can occur at the idle transfer passage on the 2.3L HSC engine during cold driveaway when ambient temperatures are just above 32~ F
with high humidity. This condition can be alleviated by installing a heated carburetor to intake manifold spacer.
1.
Remove the wing nut and grommet, and move the air cleaner horn away from the carburetor.
2.
Remove the carburetor assembly.
3.
Remove and discard the carburetor-to-intake manifold gasket and install the heated gasket (9A589).
