Audible Warning Device: Description and Operation
Safety Belt Reminder - With Manual Shoulder Belts
When the Ignition Switch is turned to RUN or START, power is supplied through Circuit 640 (R/Y) to the Warning Chime Module, which then supplies
power through Circuit 450 (DG/LG) to illuminate the Fasten Belts indicator for six seconds, whether or not the driver's seat belt is fastened. If the
driver's seat belt is NOT fastened during this time, the seat belt buckle switch remains closed, supplying ground through circuit 85 (BR/LB) to the Chime
Module causing it to sound for six seconds.
Lap Belt Reminder - With Automatic Shoulder Belts
When the Ignition Switch is turned to RUN or START, power is supplied through Circuit 640 (R/Y) to the Warning Chime Module, which then supplies
power through Circuit 450 (DG/LG) to the Passive Restraint Module, which then supplies power through Circuit 871 (Y) to illuminate the Fasten Belts
Indicator for six seconds, whether or not the driver's lap belt is fastened. If the driver's lap belt is NOT fastened during this time, the lap belt buckle
switch remains closed, supplying ground through Circuit 85 (BR/LB) to the Chime Module and causing it to sound for six seconds.
Emergency Release Lever(s) Raised Warning - With Automatic Shoulder Belts
When the Ignition Switch is in RUN and one or both of the emergency release levers is in the raised position, the Passive Restraint Module will supply
power through Circuit 871 (Y) to flash the Fasten Belts Indicator. The Passive Restraint Module will also supply power through Circuit 159 (R/PK) to
the Warning Chime Module causing it to sound. The lamp will remain flashing and the chime will continue sounding until both release levers are pushed
down into their normal position.
Shoulder Belts Stopped Warning - With Automatic Shoulder Belts
In the unlikely event that either of the automatic shoulder belt carries should stop during their travel before reaching and locking, in the B-pillar, the
Passive Restraint Module will supply power through Circuit 871 (Y) to flash the Fasten Belt Indicator. The Passive Restraint Module will also supply
power through Circuit 159 (R/PK) to the Warning Chime Module, causing it to sound. The lamp will remain flashing and the chime will continue
sounding until the condition is corrected.
Key-In-Ignition Warning
The Warning Chime sounds when the driver's door is opened with the key in the Ignition Switch, and continues to sound until the key is removed or the
door is closed. When the key is in the Ignition, the key-in-ignition switch is closed and ground is supplied to the Warning Chime Module through Circuit
158 (BK/PK). When the driver's door is open, the driver's door courtesy lamp switch is closed and power is supplied to the Module through Circuit 159
(R/PK).
