Child Seat Tether Attachment: Description and Operation

Tether Anchorage Hardware
If tether anchorage hardware is required for the child safety seat, tether anchor hardware kits can be obtained at no charge from any Ford or
Lincoln-Mercury dealer. Attachment holes at each rear seating position have been provided in all vehicles.
Canadian Vehicles Only
All vehicles built for sale in Canada include a tether anchor hardware kit for use with Canadian Child Safety Seats.
Some child safety seats provide a tether strap which goes over the back of the vehicle seat and attaches to an anchorage in the panel behind the rear
seat.
If a tethered safety seat is used, place it in a seating position with the tether strap attached at the tether anchorage point. Attachment holes (at each rear
seating position) have been provided to attach the tether anchor hardware kit.
Tether Attachment Holes
On two-door vehicles, look inside the luggage compartment, locate the 9 mm (0.35 inch) holes (behind the rear seat) in the metal panel structure
marked by the embossed letter "T". The holes for the outboard seating positions are approximately 298 mm (11.75 inches) from the centerline of the
vehicle and along a line 152 mm (6 inches) rearward from the center of the speaker grille openings. The hole for the center seat is about 86 mm (3.37
inches) to the left of the centerline and 38 mm (1.5 inches) rearward from the center of the speaker grilles.
