Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
Fuel Supply Manifold Retaining Bolts
Fuel Supply Manifold
REMOVAL:
NOTE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
1.
Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2.
Remove the spring lock coupling retaining clips from the fuel supply and return lines.
3.
Disconnect the fuel supply and the fuel return lines.
4.
Disconnect the wiring from wiring harness from the injectors.
5.
Remove the two fuel supply manifold retaining bolts.
6.
Carefully disengage the supply manifold from the injectors.
7.
Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator.
INSTALLATION:
NOTE: When installing new or used injectors on the fuel supply manifold assembly, particular attention should be paid to proper O-ring seating to
be sure of no O-ring leaks.
1.
Lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil.
2.
Position the fuel supply manifold on top of the fuel injectors.
3.
Push the fuel supply manifold down to ensure all injector O-rings are fully seated in the fuel supply manifold cups and intake manifold.
4.
Install the two retaining bolts while holding down the supply manifold. Tighten the bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb.ft).
5.
Connect the fuel supply and return line spring lock couplings. Install the fuel line retaining clips.
6.
Connect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
7.
With the fuel injector electrical connectors disconnected, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position to allow the fuel pump to pressurize the
system.
8.
Using a clean towel, check for fuel leaks.
9.
Connect the fuel injector wiring harness connectors.
10.
Start the engine and run it for two minutes and check for fuel leaks.
