Tracer L4-1589cc 1.6L SOHC (1989)
.001-.004 inch should be indicated.
Assemble
Wash all parts except seals in chlorinated solvent, and dry with compressed air or allow to drip dry. Do not use cloth to dry.
1.
Install pressure switch, if removed.
2.
Install pressure regulator valve, if removed.
3.
Install new shaft oil seal using a suitable socket. Coat seal lip with suitable lithium base grease.
4.
Install dowel pins in pump body, if removed.
5.
Install pump shaft, then rotor in position noted during disassembly.
6.
Install rotor to shaft snap ring. Ensure snap ring is fully seated in groove.
7.
Install vanes in rotor with rounded edges facing out.
8.
Install cam ring onto dowel pins.
9.
Install pump body center and front O-ring.
10.
Install pump body rear and O-ring.
11.
Install reservoir and O-ring.
12.
Install short bolt into tank bracket and tighten.
13.
Install rear mounting bracket and attaching bolts.
14.
Install front mounting bracket and attaching bolts.
15.
Install pulley key in shaft slot.
16.
Install pulley as described under DRIVE PULLEY.
17.
Rotate pulley and ensure smooth operation, if pulley does not operate smoothly, disassemble pump and check cause.
