Brake Pedal Assy: Testing and Inspection
Free Play
1. Depress the brake pedal several times to eliminate the vacuum in the power brake booster.
2. Depress the brake pedal and measure the amount of free play until resistance is felt. The brake pedal free play should be 1.0-3.0mm (0.039-0.118
inch).

3. If the brake pedal free play is not within specifications, loosen the brake pedal push rod locknut.
4. Turn the brake pedal push rod until the brake pedal free play is within specification.
5. Tighten the brake pedal push rod locknut to 16-22 Nm (12-16 ft. lbs.).
6. Verify that the brake pedal height is within specification and that the stoplamps operate properly.
