Villager V6-181 3.0L SOHC VIN 1 EFI (1997)
b. Note the grade number of each crankshaft main journal (B) stamped on the end of the crankshaft.
c. Select the correct crankshaft main bearing (C) by adding the cylinder block crankshaft main journal grade number (A) to the crankshaft main
journal number (B).
Formula used to figure the correct crankshaft main bearing grade number: C = A + B
Example:
Main journal grade number stamped on block: 1 (A)
Crankshaft journal grade number: 2 (B)
Main bearing grade number = 1 + 2 (A + B) = 3 (C)
Plastigage Method
1. Clean the crankshaft main journals. Inspect the journals and thrust faces for nicks, burrs, or roughness that would cause premature crankshaft main
bearing wear.
2. Install the crankshaft main bearings in the proper positions in the cylinder block.
NOTE: Align the upper crankshaft main bearings with the oil holes on the cylinder block.
3. Position the crankshaft in the cylinder block.
4. Position Plastigage(R) D81L-6002-B or equivalent across the top of the crankshaft main journals.
