Intake Manifold: Testing and Inspection
CLEANING
Remove all gasket material from the machined surfaces of the upper and lower intake manifolds. Clean the upper and lower intake manifolds in a
suitable solvent and dry with compressed air.
INSPECTION
CAUTION: Remove all filing and foreign matter that may have entered the upper and lower intake manifolds as a result of service.
Inspect the upper and lower intake manifolds for cracks, damaged gasket surfaces, or other damage that would make them unfit for further service.
Clean the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) exhaust passages.
Check the upper and lower intake manifolds for flatness. Place a straightedge across the intake manifold. Use a feeler gauge between the straightedge
and the intake manifold to measure the flatness.
