Air Filter Element: Testing and Inspection
Visually inspect the Air Cleaner Element (ACL element) for:
-
signs of dust or dirt leaking through holes in the element material.
-
signs of dust or dirt leaking past the end seals.
Place a light behind the ACL element and look through the ACL element at the light:
Any hole is cause for replacement.
Also check the ACL element for deformed seals or for burned or brittle spots that could fail under engine operating vibration and cause a hole. If any of
the above defects are found, replace the ACL element.
NOTE: Discoloration alone may not be cause for replacement.
