Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the distributor cover.
3. Mark the distributor to spark plug wires to ensure proper installation.
4. Remove the distributor to spark plug wires from the distributor cap terminals and the spark plugs.

NOTE: When removing the distributor to spark plug wires from the distributor cap , grasp the spark plug wire boot by hand and remove with a
twisting and pulling motion. Do not pull on the distributor to spark plug wire.

INSTALLATION 

1. Insert each distributor to spark plug wire on its proper distributor cap terminal. The terminal numbers are identified on the distributor cap. Install

the distributor to spark plug wires beginning with the No. 1 terminal.

2. Connect the distributor to spark plug wires to the proper spark plugs.

NOTE: Fit each distributor to spark plug wire to its securing pin when connecting the distributor to spark plug wires to the No. 3 and No. 5 spark
plugs.

3. Install the distributor cover.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
