Speedometer Head: Description and Operation
Analog Instrument Cluster
Description
The speedometer and odometer are electrically driven by the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), which is mounted to the transaxle. The VSS is driven by the
output shaft of the transaxle and sends eight pulses of alternating current to the instrument cluster per one rotation of the speedometer driven gear. The
VSS also transmits information to the speed control system.
