Auxiliary Air Valve (Idle Speed): Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the Fast Idle Control (FIC) solenoid electrical connector.
3. Disconnect and plug the coolant hose from the Idle Air Control-Fast Idle Control (IAC-FIC) assembly.
4. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector.
5. Remove the four IAC-FIC assembly bolts.
6. Remove the IAC-FIC assembly and gasket from the upper intake manifold.

Discard the gasket.
7. Remove the two IAC valve screws and separate the IAC valve from the IAC-FIC assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the IAC valve on the IAC-FIC assembly and install the two IAC valve screws.
2. Install a new gasket on the IAC-FIC assembly and position the IAC-FIC assembly on the upper intake manifold.
3. Install the four IAC-FIC assembly bolts.

Tighten the IAC-FIC assembly bolts to 7-8 N.m (61-71 lb-in).
4. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
5. Connect the coolant hose to the IAC-FIC assembly.
6. Reconnect the battery ground cable.
