Attachment III - Technical Information
Fuel Tank Jumper Hose Inspection and/or Replacement
Affected Vehicles
1997 Villager built at the Ohio Assembly Plant from September 16, 1996 through September 23, 1996.
Inspection
1.
Inspect the fuel tank build date by viewing from below the rear bumper. The build date on the tank is stamped in yellow letters 1/2 inch high on the
rear of the fuel tank.
2.
The build date codes for the suspect tanks are 6912, 6913, 6916 and 6917. Disregard the fifth or last number in the code.
3.
If the fuel tank build date code is other than 6912, 6913, 6916 or 6917, release the vehicle. No further action is required.
4.
If the build date is any of the above, the fuel tank fuel jumper hoses must be replaced. Go to "Removal" for this procedure.
Removal
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure by removing fuel pump relay while the engine idles and allowing the engine to stall. Reinstall the relay.
2.
Loosen the gas cap to vent the gas tank.
3.
Drain the gas tank.
4.
Raise and support the vehicle.
