This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to revise the Service Part numbers and part description.
ISSUE
Some 1997-98 Villagers may exhibit one or more of the following concerns:

Momentary loss of engine braking when coasting downhill
^
High idle fluctuation when engine is cold
^
Engine stalling when shifting from Park to Reverse or Drive
^
An objectionable sulfur-type odor from the exhaust under certain driving conditions - 1997 Villager Only
This may be caused by the programming within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION
Replace the PCM. The new PCM should reduce the possibility of the above concerns occurring. Refer to the Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Perform normal diagnostics.
2.
Replace the PCM with revised PCM. Refer to the Parts Block in this TSB article for application. Refer to the 1998 Villager Service Manual, Page
03-14-4, for replacement procedure.
3.
With the engine coolant temperature above 63° (145°F), perform the following Self-Learning Idle procedure:
