Dimmer Switch: Description and Operation
NOTE: The autolamp switch is an integral part of the Autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor.
The instrument cluster illumination and the instrument panel illumination are controlled by the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor (dimmer switch),
located on the LH side of the instrument panel finish panel, and by the timer module. When either side of the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor is
pressed, an electronic signal is sent to the timer module which then supplies a ground for the instrument cluster and panel illumination lamps. The
voltage range is from 0.2 volts (brightest) to 9.0 volts (dimmest). However, the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor does not control the glove
compartment or the instrument panel ash receptacle illumination lamps.
